Can-Am Maverick R Rolling Launch Control — Operating Instructions

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

The EVP Launch Button/Harness, when operated in the “Button” mode makes changes to the operation of a number of functions on the Maverick R. It is important to understand that misuse may cause damage to the transmission.

  • When the rocker switch is in BUTTON mode, in order to switch between Park and Drive or Park and Reverse, you must still have your foot on the brake as well as your finger on the button. The car will not shift unless your pressing down on the launch button, however, it is important to still have your foot on the brake so the car is stationary while switching between park and the forward/reverse gears.
  • When the rocker switch is in BUTTON mode, the front diff will not decouple while in 4WD on braking like it does stock unless the BUTTON is depressed while braking.
  • When the rocker switch is in BUTTON mode, you will not have brake lights unless you depress the launch button.

LAUNCH CONTROL OPERATION

  • When using launch control while the rocker switch is in BUTTON mode, to engage launch mode, your foot must be on the brake while simultaneously holding the launch button in. IMPORTANT – once in staging mode, DO NOT FORGET YOU MUST PRESS THE BUTTON IN AND HOLD THE BRAKE BEFORE PRESSING THE THROTTLE PEDAL. IF YOU FORGET TO HOLD THE BUTTON AND JUST HOLD THE BRAKE SWITCH, THE CAR WILL NOT ENTER LAUNCH MODE AND WILL TRY TO MAKE POWER WITH THE BRAKES ON. THIS CAN DAMAGE THE CLUTCH DISKS AND OR TRANSMISSION and possibly cause the car to lurch ahead.

ROLLING LAUNCH OPERATION

  • Works best while in Manual Mode in 2nd or 3rd gear
  • Hold approximately 5000 RPM and depress the launch button, then fully press the throttle pedal. After 2 seconds, release the button and be prepared to upshift quickly. 2 Seconds is the maximum time to have rolling launch engaged – longer is not better and only raises EGTs. Boost while on Rolling Launch is capped at approximately 22PSI – it will not build more boost than this regardless of how long you are on the button.
