Installation

Remove the primary and secondary outer cover. Locate the primary clutch.

Either pull the belt and primary clutch or loosen all (6) M6 primary clutch cover bolts with the primary clutch still in the car. Only take (3) all the way out. NOTE: Apply pressure to the primary clutch cover when removing the last (3) bolts.

If you chose to pull the primary clutch (as we did in these instructions), bring the primary over to a work area. Place the primary clutch in a compression tool and compress. Remove (6) M6 clutch cover bolts.

Remove the clutch cover, spring, spring retainer. Pull the spider out of the sheave. Below you will see a worn OEM button.

Remove the old buttons, they may be welded to the clutch due to heat. We had two that cracked and broke, which make for an easy removal. NOTE: Do not damage the button housing because the new buttons wont fit properly.

Once all (6) buttons are removed, clean the inside of the button housing with Scotch- Brite pad and break cleaner. Blow out with compressed air when finished.

You will notice the EVP buttons have a chamfer edge and a straight edge. Always place the chamfer edge into the clutch spider first. Press in with your thumbs. If you need, use a rubber mallet to tap the buttons until fully seated.

Place the spider back into the primary clutch. Followed by spring retainer, primary spring, and primary cover. Torque the (6) M6 bolts down to 100 in-lbs (8.3 ft-lbs).

Reinstall the primary clutch, see service manual for torque specs, (P90X 2020-2022 Pro XP and 2021 XP Turbo Torque to 140 ft-lbs.

Reinstall CVT drive belt, remove the belt changing tool and spin the secondary until the CVT belt is seated on top.

Reinstall the clutch housing.
